I have been doing a web consulting job for several years, besides my main job which is management of online shopping. Today is the second time for a client who has just started an online shop in Rakuten, which is the biggest online shopping mall in Japan. They created their online shop with a very good design and with using all the important functions, but the sales have not reached their target. Their products focus on the niche market and also more segments in the children’s market. Even if the Internet is good at a niche market, it is too small to sell a lot to reach their sales target. We suggested they expand the target to not only children but adults for more sales and to increase the number of products.

They have grown up rapidly, but instead the competition among shops has been increasing. We have been consulting about such things based on our experiences of online shopping for more than ten years since we started the Internet business in 1995.
